Jericho PG 200-250

Summary: Jericho and Arline got into a fight because her and Eric are always seen talking and Jericho starts to fight about that she should not give him hope for something he can't have. She reacted by saying because he is in a wheel chair he doesn't have a chance with me and she also claimed that Jericho doesn't own her. She says that she likes him for who he is and he gets defensive and says oh so you like him? So they were both way mad at each other. Jericho gets to the warehouse at 8 for the pledge meeting he was still mad about the fight. He tried a lot to call her and apologize but she just wasn't ready to talk. They were told to run laps around the warehouse without their coats on and it was really cold. Now while they were sweating they had to go into a dumpster to find items the dumpster was full of manure. It is raining at this time and after they found all of the stuff they were out in the rain without their coats. The leaders made them take off there boots and socks lay the foot on the sock so it wouldn't get muddy and suck on the leaders toe.

Response: Jericho realized that he should have listened to what Mr. Boston said. Jericho is starting to regret what he is doing. This will be hard but they only have two days left.

Jericho PG 150-200

Summary: Jericho was waiting for Arline to finish a test after school that she had to make up. He is just sitting on a bench and Eric a high school student that is in a wheel chair because he jumped off a fence and landed on his back and broke it rolled up to Jericho and he realized that he didn't know Eric that well. They go to talking and Jericho learned that Eric was very athletic and really wanted to be a Warrior. Eric never felt sorry for himself except that now girls wont even talk to him. So Jericho told him to scream and let it all out and Eric started yelling and Mr. Boston came out as Eric was leaving. Jericho told Mr. Boston what happened and he understood and they got to talking about the Warriors and Mr. Boston told him what he has heard about the club that there is some very intense hazing activities. Mr. Boston played high school football and when he was a freshmen the seniors took there clothes while they were showering and made all the freshmen run out to the field blind folded so all the track team, cheerleaders, and band could see them make fun of them and take pictures. So he warns Jericho what can happen and Jericho counters with the fact that they do all this good stuff in the town.

Response: The Warriors pride themselves on trust and that no one from the outside world knows what they do and some how Mr. Boston found out. Will Jericho take the warning or brush it off?

Jericho PG 100-150

Summary: For Christmas all Jericho wanted was a car. After all the gifts were opened and he got some shoes and random stuff he wasn't to upset then his dad told him to go get the paper and a car was sitting in the drive way. He ran through the snow barefoot to get to it. He loved his car but he knew that his parents were going to be very strict about it. The first thing he asked was if he would be able to drive to the Warriors New Year's Eve party. His parents eventually said yes. He ran upstairs and told Arline the good news. The pledges had another meeting they were told that they all had to go get physicals for the Warriors and when Jericho went there he was told he was all good except he was a little bit over weight and needed to start eating healthier. He brushed it off like it was no big deal. When Kofi got back from his physical he said that he had a small heart problem but it could get serious. Jericho asked him if he was going to tell the club he said no.

Response: Kofi seems to have a lot of little things wrong. Like with his parents never being around, not working hard in school, and now the heart thing. I think this will end up being very hard for him.

Jericho PG 50-100

Summary: Jericho and Kofi are at the mall shopping and they see Rick there and they are talking and Rick brings up the orphans tree and how it need ordaments. He says that a pledge must to anything they are told to do Rick makes them steal them two each. Jericho starts to second guess this club and if it is really what he wants to be a part of. At midnight when all of the pledges are at the wear house waiting to be told what to do. They give them a overview of the club and make them repeat the code. They explain that is will be a hard long road to make it in the club. Dana is there a girl wanting to be in the club that is unheard of. The leaders of the club Rick, Madison, and Eddie were very upset manly Eddie. Eddie is the most upset because he really liked Dana but she kept turning him down. She will most likely end up being his pledge because he keeps saying how hard it will be for her and that he will make her life a living hell.

Response: They are all going to have a long hard road but Dana is who I am most worried about because of the way that Eddie was reacting.

Jericho PG 1-50

Summary: Jericho is out eating with his friends and then a group of girls approach them. Jericho is a heavier set kid who really likes this girl but is to scared to talk to her. His friends are very smooth with girls and have a girl friend. There is a way for him to get more attention from girls a club called Warriors of Distinction. They are a club that helps out the community, throws awesome parties, get the newest and nicest clothes, and have very nice club jackets. Jericho gets asked to help with a little kids toy drive and that gets some girls attention. He asks a girl named Arline to go to Josh's party at his house and she says yes he has had a crush on her for a long time. While they were at Josh's house there was a big argument about the Warriors of Distinction and how girls should be in it. Jericho takes Arline upstairs and plays his trumpet for her. He is very good at the trumpet he played at the Cincinnati Bengals games. She was very impressed by it and that made him really happy. Jericho took Arline to the toy drive where they wrapped the gifts and sorted them. They had a great time and were joking and teasing each other.

Response: Jericho really needs to get into this club if he wants to get with Arline. She is a lot cooler and understanding then most girls are to him because of his weight.

Chapter 26

Summary: Holden says that he will go to school next fall. Holden is sad that he even told this story he misses the poeple that are in the story. He says he will not finish it he got sick and went home and now is in the assylum. He talks about how everyone is acking him questions and so does D.B. but he is not as bad as everyone else.

Response: Holden really misses everyone that was in the story. He is going to school next fall it would be nice to see him try and really see what skills he has. This was a pretty good book its not like somthing we would normally get to read I liked it.

Chapter 25

Summary: Holden gets to Grand Central Station and stays the night there. He then goes to Phoebe's school and make her a note telling her to come out and talk to him. He wants to tell her bye. He talks to the secretary for a while. Phoebe comes a few minutes late with a suitcase and saying that she is going with him. He tells her no and she stops talking to him. He bribes her to talk to him by taking her to the zoo. They get to the zoo and Holden is getting attached to Phoebe. They get to where the carousel sets and Phoebe wants to ride it and Holden buys her a ticket and watches her ride.

Response: Holden really wants to stay with Phoebe and not leave her.

Chapter 24

Summary: Holden eats dinner with his teacher and he is making coffee for Holden and he can tell that the teacher in drunk. They start talking about why he got kicked out and Holden says that they are to strict for him. The teacher is telling Holden that he wasted his life and messed up. Holden is tired so he goes to sleep and wakes up to the teacher petting him and touching him. Holden gets scared and leaves.

Response: Why was the teacher touching Holden? I think it is time for Holden to go home and talk to his family.

Chapter 23

Summary: Holden goes to call this English teacher he had at a different school. He was the only person who went up to Holden's friends body after he killed himself he was strong through it all. Holden and Phoebe dance and then his parents come home and so Holden hides in the closet and when his mom is done telling Phoebe goodnight he comes out. Phoebe gives Holden her Christmas money and he gives her his hunting hat.

Response: Holden was happy to see his sister and they had fun for a little big before he had to leave. He gave her his hat that he loved so much I thought that was cool.

Chapter 22

Summary: He goes and get Phoebe to listen he says why he hates school and that is whey he is not doing good in his classes. She keeps saying that he hates everything he says that he doesn't hate everything so she tells him to say one thing that he likes. He thinks about the nuns and a friend he had that killed himself. Then he says he likes Allie but she says that he is dead. She wants to know what he wants to do with his life and all he can say in the song that the little boy was signing.

Response: Phoebe thinks at a very mature level and asks serious questions about life. She is going to go places in life.

Chapter 21

Summary: Holden gets to his parents apartment and tells the doorman that he is visiting the Dicksteins who are right across from his parents place. When he gets in his room he goes up to his sisters room to find her when gets there she is not there so he goes to D.B. room and finds her in there. She wakes up and is very excited to see him. She gets worried because if he is home already then she tells him that dad will kill him. So he leaves the room to get some cigarettes.

Response: He again makes someone mad at him every person he talks to in this story gets mad at him to some extent. He needs to work on his relationship skills.

Chapter 20

Summary: After Carl leaves the bar Holden stays and drinks for a while and gets drunk. He goes to a phone booth and calls Sally her grandma answers and they both get very frustrated with Holden. Sally can tell that he is drunk because he is asking her a lot of questions. He goes inside to get his coat and some water to sober up. While he is walking around he drops the record for his sister and it breaks but he keeps the pieces. He thinks about death his funeral. He missed Allie's because he was in the hospital for punching the windows. He wants to see his sister but he doesn't have money and he doesn't want his parents to see him. He goes hopping they are asleep.

Response: He really wants to see his sister but he is drunk would she be mad at him? He needs to sober up then go see her.

Chapter 19

Summary: This is one of the shortest chapters in the book so far. When Holden see Carl he remembers that he used to always talk about sex to the younger kids so when Carl gets there he starts to try and bring up sex. Carl doesn't want to talk about sex at all and says that Holden should get check out by a psychoanalyst which is what Carl's father is. Holden asks him if he has every been checked out and that makes Carl mad so he leaves.

Response: Why does Holden make everyone mad when he is around them? He ruins chances to have real friends.

Chapter 18

Summary: Holden goes and eats at this store and thinks about calling Jane but he starts to think about things in the past. Then he just calls Jane anyway but no one answers. So he calls this guy that he used to room with and asks him to come drink with him that night Carl says he will. He has nothing to do so he goes to the movies to wait for Carl to be ready to get some drinks. While he walks to the bar he thinks about the movie which was about the war he know he would never be able to make it in the war.

Response: Holden must really be lonely if he is just calling random people to go drink with him.

Chapter 17

Summary: When it comes time to go to the show he takes a cab there. Sally comes 10 minutes late but she is looking very good so Holden doesn't get mad. When they get to the show he gets annoyed because the actors are just like Ernie very good and they know it and show off. During the break Sally and Holden are outside Sally sees someone she knows another guy and he sees her and they start talking it really annoys Holden. After the show they go skating and Sally gets this really short skirt and Holden really likes that. They start talking about leaving a running away and living just them two somewhere and Holden would get a job when he ran out of money and they would borrow a car from a guy that owes him money. Sally shoots is down and says that it is dumb and will never work that makes Holden mad so he says they are leaving and calls her a pain in the ass.

Response: Did he really think that would work? He really must want escape for all this stuff if he is trying to get people to leave with him.

Chapter 16

Summary: After he eats he goes for a walk and wants to buy this record for his little sister Phoebe. He really likes his little sister because she understands him more then anybody else and she is only 10. There is a little boy walking with his family on the road singing “If a body catch a body coming through the rye.” He calls Jane and her mom answers so he just hangs up right away. He goes and buys tickets to a show staring the Lunts.

Response: Again he is wanting to spend money on other people. He bought tickets to a show that he doesn't even want to see.

Chapter 15

Summary: Holden setsup a date with Sally for the next day. While he is waithing for the date to start he brings up his parents which he hasn't done much of before he talks about how his dad was always getting mad at him for losing things and how his mother hasn't felt the greatest ever since Allie died. Holden wants something to eat so he goes to this little sandwich place to eat and he runs into two nuns. He offers them 10 dollars for a donation they don't want it but he gives it to them anyway and they talk about life he learns that they are teachers he tells them about things he has read.

Response: He still has to go on that date with Sally so why is he giving away his money? He will run out sooner or later if he just keeps giving it away, and buying people drinks.

Chapter 14

Summary: Holden is laying down on his bed smoking he is thinking about time when Allie was alive and how he didn't let him come ride bikes this one time with one of Holden's friends. There was a knock on the door and he goes to get it and it is Maurice. Maurice comes in and is telling Holden to give him 5 dollars and he wont. So Maurice starts to get physical and him and Holden fight and Sunny takes his wallet and pulls out the extra 5 and they leave. Holden imagines that he has a gun and is shooting Maurice. He finally goes to bed and falls asleep.

Response: Holden is beaten up and mad about the 5 extra dollars and feels like he got ripped off for extra money. He doesn't like movies but he pretends that he is one while he shots Maurice.

Chapter 13

Summary: Holden was mad about having to leave the club so he walks 41 blocks back to the hotel. His hands are cold so he thinks about his gloves that were stolen from the school. When he is in the elevator he gets asked if he wants a prostitue to come to his room and he didn't even want to have sex he just wanted to talk to her because he was lonely. She takes off her dress and sits on his lap and tries to seduce him. He is getting nervous and he just gives her 5 dollars and tells her to leave. She claims that it is ten dollars but he only gives her 5 because he was told it was only 5.

Response: She was trying to hustle him for 5 bucks and they didn't even have sex with her.

Chapter 12

Summary: Holden takes a taxicab to this club that his brother used to always go to. The cab driver is Horwitz he is getting mad at Holden for talking about ducks. Ernie's he is a big black man that is a very good piano player. One of D.B.'s old girlfriends is there with this army man and she trying to get Holden to sit with them and have a drink and talk about D.B. Holden thinks that she is very annoying so he makes up something so he can leave.

Response: If he wants to find someone to hang out with and not be lonely why would he not give her a chance even if he has to talk about he "Phony" brother.

Chapter 11

Summary: Holden is walking around and he starts thinking about Jane and all of the fun times they had while they were kids. As much as they liked each other they never did anything physical except for hold hands. She was the greatest hand holder ever you never had to worry about your hand being sweaty or in the wrong spot. They would go to the movies and hold hands the whole time from start to finish. She is the only person outside Holden's family that has ever seen Allie's baseball glove.

Response: Holden obviously still wants to be around Jane and it hurts him that they are not close anymore. I wonder if Jane still has feelings for Holden like he does for her.

Chapter 10

Summary: Holden wants to get out of his room and have some fun still. So he goes down to the Lavender Club by the Hotel lobby. He meets these three girls and wants to dance with them but they are there just to find movie stars. He gets one to dance with him eventually they all danced with him. He bought them all drinks and they just drink them and leave. So he is still lonely and goes back up to his room.

Response: Holden seems to just like girls and cocktails. He is 16 back then was there more underage drinking?

Chapter 9

Summary: When Holden gets to New York he wants to call someone in the phone booth. He doesn't know who to call he thinks about his brother but decides not to and then his sister but she is little and won't be awake. He says that his parents will probably answer and he doesn't want them to find him. He finally calls for a cab and he tries to start conversations but they don't really go anywhere. Then he gets to his room and calls Faith because he wanted a girl to come up to his room but she doesn't come over.

Response: Why would he want Faith to come over? How long will he stay away from his parents?

Chapter 8

Summary: Holden leaves the school and walks to the train station he gets lucky and only has to wait about ten minutes. Holden is the only one on in there then a good looking lady comes in and happens to be Eresnt's mom a kid that goes to Pencey. Holden tells her a few lies about things the moms want to hear about their kids. He also lies and tells her that his name is Rudolf and he is leaving school because of a small brain tummor.

Response: Rudolf *Holden* really went on with the lies. Maybe if he was more honest every once in a while he would have better success with life.

Chapter 7

Summary: Holden goes back into to Ackey's room he wakes him up and Ackley asks Holden why he is all bloody and beat up. Holden just ingnores the question. Holden asks if he can lay on Ackley's roommates bed and Ackley says no and gets a little bit defensive. Holden can't stop thinking about Jane. Ackley gets to annoying for Holden so he leaves and starts packing his bags. He is really upset and yells and wakes everyone up before he leaves.

Respose: I think Holden is going to have to keep fighting and work hard to keep his life going. It has been hard so far but he can make it.

Chapter 6

Summary: Stradlater just got back form his date and Holden wants to know how is was and Stradlater said they had fun in the baseball coaches car. That made Holden made because he knows how Stradlater was and knew what they did. That upset Holden because he has strong feelings for Jane. Then Stradlater and Holden got into a fight and Stradlater is bigger, stronger, and a better fighter so he won. Stradlater gave him all the chances to stop but Holden kept talking.

Response: Holden must really care about Jane if he would fight someone that much stronger them him for her. Stradlater doesn't like herand just wants action from her.

Chapter 5

Summary: Holden is bored and wants to go see a movie so he gets Ackley and Mal to go with him. When they are waiting for the bus they have a snowball fight. They all have already seen that movie so they just go get some burgers. When they get back Holden still needs to write the paper for Stradlater. He writes the paper about his little brothers baseball glove which was covered with poems so he wouldn't we bored while he played. His brothers name was Allie he died from leukemia when he was young.

Response: Holden really liked his younger brother. He is very upset that he died with good reason. That might be why he has such trouble with the world.

Chapter 4

Summary: Stradlater Holden's roommate is cleaning up to go on a date with this girl named Jane Gallagher who Holden knows from his childhood. He really wants to go down there and say something to her but doesn't. Stradlater is done cleaning up and goes out for his date and once again Ackley comes in and bothers Holden again.

Response: I think Holden and Jane will end up getting together in the end. He really has strong feelings for her and he got very excited when Stradlater brought her up. He keeps talking about their past and is very happy.

Chapter 3

Summary: Holden is sitting in his room wearing a hunting hat he just bought and reading a book. Then this guy that stays in the room next to him named Ackley comes into his room just by walking through the shower curtain. Ackley is very annoying he messes with peoples things without even asking and Holden is trying to read his book and makes hints to get Ackley to leave but he never does. Then Holden's roomate Stradlater comes in and Ackley hates him so then he finally leaves.

Response: I wonder why Ackley and Stradlater don't like eachother. If someone like Ackley came in my room and messed with my stuff I would just kick him out.

Chapter 2

Summary: Holden really wants to say goodbye to someone so he runs in the cold to his History teacher Mr. Spencer's house and is greeted by his wife Mrs. Spencer who offers him a hot drink because it is so cold out side but he doesn't want one. Mr. Spencer is sick so when Holden goes in his room to talk to him he is in a bath robe and nothing else so it is a little weird for Holden and Mr. Spencer starts to leacture him about why he is not making it in school. Holden doesn't want to talk about this so he tries to leave but Mr. Spencer just keeps talking so finaly Holden gets out of there.

Response: I think Holden would be very smart if he aplies himself he seems like a smart kid. It seems like Mr. Spencer really cares.

Chapter 1

Summary: Holden Caulfield is the main character in this book he attends Pencey Prep High School he is watching a football game from way up on top of a hill it is icy cold. He doesn't really try or apply himself so he is getting kicked out so the overall grades at Pencey Prep doesn't drop. He starts off by stating that he will not talk about his past. He does talk about his brother who is a wealthy writer that lives in Hollywood and drives a nice Jaguar.

Response: This is going to be a fun book to read I am glad we are reading it. Holden is going through a rough time so it will be interresting to see how he deals with it.
