Chapter 24
The regiment goes back to the river where they started. The war is over. (Answers my question from last chapter) Henry starts to think about everything. He sees both sides of everything of how much of a coward he was and what he became to be. Henry begins to think about the world being peaceful and full of happiness. It stops raining and a little bit of sunshine peaks through the clouds. This shows the brightness that Henry was thinking about.
Chapter 23
They find out they need to charge or they will die. They charge toward the emeny will everything they have. Henry see that there flag carrier is down so he wants to go get there flag. Does he know that it is not capture the flag with paintball guns this is war?!? Him and Wilson go take the flag from the enemy. Again they drive them back. They gain four P.O.W's. I don't see why they needed the flag that was a big risk to go over there. They have to have so much confidence. Did they just win the whole war?
Chapter 22
Far away Henry sees two regiments in battle. The men could hear the enemy charging at them again. They get prepared for a feirce battle and stand strong wanting to take them on. The enemy is really close. Henry is still the flag carrier. Why is one of the best fighters holding the flag? The enemy again gets great position for battle. The battle is taking a toll on Henry's men many of them are dying. Henry is trying to find Wilson to see if he is okay. He finds him he is still fighting strong. Why again do they have terrible postion? It is good to see how well Henry and Wilson are doing!
Chapter 21
The regiment feels unstoppable after they won that battle. The lieutenant comes tells the commander that if they would've went another one hundred yards they would have won. They thought they did good because they killed a lot of the enemy. They start saying bad things about the lieutenant and say that it is hard fighting for someone when no matter what you do or how hard you try it is never good enough. Two guys come up to Henry and tell him that the the lieutenant wanted to know who the the flag carrier was. They said it was Wilson and Henry. The lieutenant was very proud of what they did in battle. How could the Lieutenat have wanted more form them? They killed many men and they thought they wouldn't have even came back alive and they won!
Chapter 20
The fighting isn't slowing down. They are getting defeated and feel like it is the officers fault. Henry become the flag carrier and Wilson thinks he is going to die again. Says that he will be okay. The smoke is getting so thick that they can't even see their enemy. When the smoke goes away all they see are dead bodies they drove them back again! How do they keep doing this just when you think they are going to lose? Henry is really stepping up!
Chapter 19
There is a battle starting. Henry's regiment is charging. There are men all around Henry dropping dead to the ground. Everyone is getting scared when the enemy is running at them. The leader is telling them to fight but no one does. Wilson fires the first shot and that gets the men to rally. They make a big move across the field. While they are moving many men get killed the flag carrier being one. So Henry and Wilson become the flag carriers. How come they never have good positions in battels?
Chapter 18
Henry sees a wounded soldier named Jimmie Rogers. Henry is looking for water but he can not find any. He really needs to get Jimmie some water. The commander said that the rebels are going to attack again. Henrys group is going to charge now this is real fighting according to the Lieutenat. The colonial says he is not sure that they will make it back alive. Wilson and Henry both think they will make now that they are two of the better fighters of the group. Do Henry and Wilson make it back alive? I don't think there regiment would be the same without them two.
Chapter 17
Henry is fighting like a mad man. The battle is short lived. They drive the enemy back very quickly. The general said that if he had more men like Henry then they could win the war in a week. Everyone starts to look at Henry like a war hero. He faught like crazy and he left everything out on the battle feild. The lieutenant said that they are the best regiment in the whole army. Henry just put all his fears behind him now he is a great fighter. Will the others follow his lead?
Chapter 16
They are all marching as the sound of battle is growing louder and louder. They take control a trench and they wait for the enemy to arrive. The men are nervous for the battle. They move into this forest and they get attacked. Henry blames the generals saying it is their fault they always lose. Henry really is frustrated with the genrals. Are the generals setting them up?
Chapter 15
Henry remembers the note that Wilson gave to him when he thought he was going to die so Henry was going to give it back but he stops himself. Wilson wants it back because he hasn't died and he feel embarassed about it shows a time when he was weak and scared. Why would he be embarassed war is crazy and he has never ran or anything?
Chapter 14
Henry wakes up and doesn't remember where he is. Wilson asks Henry if he is okay. Henry says that he feels pretty bad. They all start talking about the war to get each others opinions. Henry tells them about what he saw the day before and how they were getting beat. Wilson is thinking more on the bright side of things and says that the will win. Herny tells them about Jim. Then a fight breaks out. It is two men from the regiment. Wilson jumps in and breaks it up. Henry says Wilson he has changed a lot. Why do people in the same regiment fight?
Chapter 13
Henry gets lead back to his regiment. He walks toward the fire and when he gets close he meets a man with a gun and it turns out to be Wilson. They talk for a while and Henry makes up this carzy story about how he got seprated from everyone and got shot in the head. He shows Wilson the wound and Wilson calls for the Corporal to come and take care of him. He wraps his head and says it was just a graze. He says he will be fine. Will Henry ever fight?

Chapter 12
Henry is watching a fight and they are getting pushed back and he grabs a runner and wont let go. All he can say is "Why?" the runner keeps saying let go and when Henry doesn't he hits him in the head hard with his rifle. He tries so hard to get up but he can't. People are running around Henry, cannons are going off, and it is still in the heat of the battle. This man sees how hurt Henry is then says I am going your way i can give you a lift. That man just talked and talked. He finds Henry's regiment. He drops him off there and says good luck. Who was that man? Will Henry ever see him again?
Chapter 11
The sound of battle is growing louder and closer. He comes up to a roadway full of wagons, teams, and men. He is getting this fire in his heart to go and fight he fells like it is his duty to fight, but then doubt creeped into his mind. He asks himself how can i fight without a rifle? Will i find my regiment? He feels like a murder because all the dead soldiers are his fault. Why does he have a change of heart he was strong and willing to fight at the begining? Now he is scared.
Chapter 10
Henry is still with the wounded soldier they are talking and the soldiers says he isn't feeling well so Henry gets scared that he is going to die to. The soldier thinks Herny is Tom Janison who was the soldiers friend. He keeps asking him if he is hurt and is trying to get him to go take care of it. Henry knows he is not really hurt and he is not really Tom so he gets defensive about it and tells the man to stop bothering him. So he walks away. Henry keeps wishing he was dead. Where is Henry even going? Is he going back to fight?

Chapter 9
Henry meets back up with Jim. He was happy to see Henry right away because he thought Henry was dead. They talked for a while Henry noticed that Jim was wounded. Jim told Henry that he was scared of getting run over by a cart. Henry tried to move Jim away from the battlefield but Jim let and told Henry to get away and leave him alone. A short time later Jim got enough strenght to run away but he started having somethign was wrong with his movents and he fell over and died. What made Jim do this?
Chapter 8
Henry is walking around then he hears something. A crimson roar came from the distance. His mind was going crazy. He was running toward the battle. I thought he was scared of batlle? He comes opon some dead soldiers. He sees soldiers walking down the road and he follows them. A man very badly wounded starts to walk with him about how it was a good fight and how brave everyone was for not running. He also asks Henry where he was wounded Herny just keeps walking. Where are they taking the soldiers? Is this Henry's regiment?
Chapter 7
Henry feels bad for running and leaving his rediment. Henry know that they won and pushed them back without him. He thought they would outcast him for running. he tries telling himself he wasn't a coward. He then walks away from the battle and goes into the forest. He finds a dead soldier with ants eating him and he turns and runs thinking the dead man will call out to him. Why did he leave the battle again? Will he ever find his regiment again? Are they even alive?

Chapter 6
Henry is high on life right now he fought very couragesly and was proud of himself. At first he was just glad it was over. Everyone was giving speaches, handshakes, and hugs. Everyone is tired hoping they don't fight again for over a week. All of the sudden they come fighting back. They are all asking for support they don't think they can last again. Henry saw every one running away and he joined in. Why would he run? I thought he was brave.
Chapter 5
They are waiting for the enemy to get close enough to shoot and Henry is getting nervous. He was trying to figure out if his gun was loaded if he was ready. Henry says he didn't feel like a man but a member which means he wasn't looking out for himself he was fighting as a team and he was apart of it. It was very hot he was sweating a lot and he thought his eyes would crack like hot stones. A rage over took him. Henry sees real intense death for the first time and he stays strong and fights hard. He doesn't run like he thought he would. His leader dies what will happen next? Will Henry step up?
Chapter 4
The brigade was sitting in the grove trying to look through the smoke with there guns drawn. They could see people running out of the haze. Carrot went to the hospital sick. Now they have Hasbrouck as there leader and he isn't afraid of anything. Bill is another man that doesn't get scared. While they are waiting there shots went off and people were dodging bullets and trying to get away. The lieutenant was shot in the hand and he went off with swear words and that made the other men laugh and feel more comfortable. After the battle there are mixed emotions. What is Saunders and what happened to it?

Chapter 3
They keep marching for miles and miles and they are all complaing about there tired and sore feet. They hear gun shots and run closer to it and Henry is getting very nervous. He looks around to try and run but he is in a moving box. They come across a dead body and the shoes have been warn down now they are paper thin. Henry is thinking that they will be ambushed. The lieutenant called Henry up to the front of the ranks. They are all trying to figure out why they are wearing out their legs. Wilson has a feeling that he is going to die so he gives Henry a letter to give to his parents. Why does Wilson think he is going to die? Why does Wilson give the letter to Henry?

Chapter 2
Wilson is a new character that is in Henry's group. There is going to be a big battle soon and so they are told to march. Henry is starting to wish that he was back at home on that farm and he doesn't think he is fit to fight in war. Henry ask Wilson if he will run when the fighting starts and he laughs at him and says "No i will never run any man betting on me runnin will lose." Why would he want to come and fight and then have second thoughts? He obviously not ready for war.

Chapter 1
There is a lot of arguing and fighting in the beginning of the book. Henery decieds to enlist in the army and his mother is against it so she tells him how important he is on the farm and she gives him a long speach she warns him about the drinking and swearing but he goes anyway. so she makes him 8 pairs of socks and gives him nice warm shirts. Once he gets there some of the older army men are telling him stories about war. they are also talking about seeing if people will run from battle. Why is his mom so worried about the swearing and drinking didn't everyone do that back then?
